Filter Cartridge Length: Confirm the Drawing, Not Just the Inch Label

A nominal cartridge length is a product-size label, not a complete mechanical fit specification. Before reordering a liquid filter cartridge, confirm the actual dimensions and the points between which they are measured. Two items described with the same inch label can still require different seating or retention arrangements.

When selecting INCEFILTER liquid filter cartridges, send the existing product identification and housing information with the enquiry. Request a drawing for the proposed configuration rather than relying on a photograph or a length label alone.

Agree where the measurement starts and ends

Overall end-to-end length, media-body length and distance between functional seating surfaces are different measurements. A fin, locating feature, end cap or gasket may be included in one dimension and excluded from another. A drawing should identify the endpoints explicitly.

Do not assign a universal allowance by subtracting a fixed amount from the nominal length. Use an existing sample as evidence, not the only specification

Record the original part number and take clear photographs of both ends. If dimensions are measured, identify the tool, units and measurement endpoints. State whether the sample is new or used. A damaged or compressed component can be an unreliable reference for an original design dimension.

A photograph beside a ruler can help identify an item, but perspective and unclear endpoints limit its value as an acceptance record. Request a dimensioned drawing whenever the interface is uncertain. Keep an unconfirmed measurement labelled as such instead of silently converting it into a purchase requirement.

Review the complete housing interface

Length confirmation does not establish seal-material suitability, micron-rating performance or flow capacity. Ask the supplier to identify the exact end configuration and the relevant housing model. Do not force a housing closure or modify a cartridge to make an uncertain replacement fit; follow the equipment manufacturer’s installation requirements.

Put the approved dimensions into the order record

Reference the approved product code, drawing revision, critical dimensions, tolerances, end configuration and seal material. Ask which checks will accompany the shipment. A clear order record gives receiving inspection a defined basis without assuming that every similarly named cartridge is interchangeable.
