Coreless Filter Cartridges: Confirm the Support Supply Scope
“Coreless” describes a cartridge design; it does not, by itself, tell you whether the installed assembly needs a separate support core. Before ordering replacements, identify the complete housing-and-element arrangement and distinguish the disposable element from any retained hardware.

Identify what stays in the housing
Some manufacturer-specific systems use an element that slides over a support retained in the housing. Pall describes this arrangement for its Profile Coreless system. Other products sold as coreless may have a different construction. Do not infer compatibility from the word alone or assume a support can be removed.
Use the housing manual, parts drawing and original cartridge identifier. Photographs can help identify the arrangement, but they should not replace the dimensional and installation information needed to approve a replacement.

Request confirmation of the proposed element’s interface with the existing support and housing. Relevant evidence includes the drawing, flow direction and model-specific operating limits. Do not transfer pressure or temperature limits from another cartridge family, or use media material alone to infer the rating of the assembly.
Follow the equipment manufacturer’s inspection and installation instructions for retained components. Do not remove, modify or improvise a support to make an uncertain cartridge fit. Any change from an approved item should pass the cartridge substitution review before use.
Make the receiving check practical
Keep the approved drawing and itemized scope with the order. At receipt, check the product identity, included parts, packaging condition and documents against that record. Label an unverified substitute as pending approval rather than putting it into spare stock under the original part number.

Request the correct replacement package
